Downloading Telegram files on a PC or VPS
EAs run on the Windows terminal, so the file has to reach that machine. The quickest route: open the post link on the PC in Telegram Desktop or Telegram Web, click the file, and move it from the Downloads folder into the MetaTrader data folder.
Option A — Telegram Desktop (recommended)
- Install Telegram Desktop from desktop.telegram.org and log in (phone number or QR from your phone: Settings → Devices → Link Desktop Device).
- Click Get file on any row here. The link is a direct
t.me/freeex4ex5/<post>deep link, so Telegram Desktop opens the exact message. - Click the document to download it. Default location: Downloads\Telegram Desktop (change it under Settings → Advanced → Download path).
Option B — Telegram Web (no install)
Go to web.telegram.org, log in, then open the same post link. Downloads land in the browser's normal Downloads folder. Handy on a VPS where you don't want to install anything.
On a VPS
- Log into the VPS over Remote Desktop and use Option A or B there — simplest.
- Or download on your own PC and copy the file through the RDP session (copy in Explorer locally, paste inside the VPS window). Cloud drives (Google Drive/OneDrive) work too.
- Keep the VPS terminal running 24/5; that's the whole point of a VPS for EAs.
Small things that save time
- Check the extension after download: .ex4 → MT4, .ex5 → MT5. Archives (.zip/.rar) must be extracted first.
- Windows may hide extensions — turn on Explorer → View → File name extensions.
- Very rarely an antivirus flags a compiled EA. Only you can judge the source; when in doubt, don't run it, or test on a throw-away demo/VPS.
- Telegram Desktop lets you search the channel by file name — useful if you know what you want and don't have the link.

You can download it on the phone, but EAs only run on the Windows terminal (or a Windows VPS). Transfer the file to that machine, or download it there directly with Telegram Desktop / Telegram Web.

Do I need to join the channel to download?
